CSC’s sales revenue rises 54.51 percent in H1

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in the first half of this year CSC's total steel production came to 4.85 million metric tons, rising by 39.53 percent, its sales volume amounted to 4.91 million metric tons, up 34.07 percent, while its sales revenue stood at NTD 110.2 billion ($3.43 billion), up 54.51 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009. The company's profit before tax totaled NTD 27.45 billion ($853.89 million) in the given period.
 
Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2010, CSC increased its steel production by 25 percent year on year and by 0.50 percent quarter on quarter, achieving an output of 2.43 million metric tons. In the April-June period of this year, CSC's sales volume amounted to 2.49 million metric tons, up 24.83 percent year on year and up 2.53 percent over the first quarter of this year, while its sales revenue rose 63.93 percent as compared to Q2 2009, totaling NTD 58.12 billion ($1.81 billion), up 11.61 percent quarter on quarter. In the given period CSC posted a profit before tax of NTD 14.33 billion ($445.76 million), increasing by NTD 1.2 billion as compared to the first quarter, thanks to the increase in selling prices which resulted in higher gross profits.
