CSC releases May figures

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corp (CSC) announced its sales and income figures for May 2005. According to the report, the company produced 872'800 metric tons of steel in May, while the total production in the first five months of 2005 reached 4.13 million metric tons. The sales volume of the company was over the production volume, with 878'360 metric tons in May and 4.27 million metric tons in the first five months. The company sold 688'940 metric tons in the domestic market and exported 189'420 metric tons. The sales revenue of the company reached NT$17.27 million ($551'000) in May and totaled to NT$80'83 million ($2.58 million) in the first five months. The company is expecting the steel prices to rise in the fourth quarter.
