CSC’s sales revenue reached to NT$ 30.4 billion in Q1

China Steel Corp (CSC) of Taiwan increased its sales revenue between January-March period to NT$ 30.4 billion ($ 874million) by NT$ 9.3 billion when compared to the first quarter of 2002, basically due to higher steel prices which contributed to the increase in company's pre-tax income. In the first quarter CSC recorded a pre-tax income of NT$ 10.834 billion ($ 311.6 million) which is an appreciable increase as last year same figure was ten times lower NT$ 1.566 billion. As pre-tax income in March 2003 amounted to NT$ 4.531 billion, it can be said that March figure has big role in three-month pre-tax income. In March 2002 it was NT$ 837 million. March production of the company showed a slim decrease for the first quarter compared to previous year same period and went down to 2.505 million tonnes. Additionally according to the reports, although sales volume for the month of March decreased to 888'144 tonnes from 908'954 tonnes, sales volume in the first quarter increased slightly to 2.593 million tonnes. And 730'277 tonnes of this amount is exported in first three months of 2003.
