The construction of the new plant of Iranian steelmaker Country West Steel has so far physically progressed by about 80 percent and is expected to be completed by September this year. To date an investment of Rials 81 billion (about $8 million) along with a further $3.2 million has been spent on the project, with about Rials 50 billion ($5 million) needed for its completion.
The plant was originally intended to have an annual capacity of 70,000 mt of cast iron, but this designed capacity was recently upgraded to 110,000 mt by Iran's ministry of industries and mines. Blast furnace technology will be used for the production of cast iron at the new plant.
Country West Steel is based on a site of 230 hectares in Asadabad city in the western Iranian province of Hamadan.
