Chongqing Steel targets pig iron output of 5.88 million mt in 2012

Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. (Chongqing Steel) has announced that in 2012 it plans to achieve a total pig iron output of 5.88 million mt, while at the same time it is targeting comprehensive coke consumption of 505 kg per metric ton of pig iron produced.
 
In 2011, Chongqing Steel produced 5.57 million mt of pig iron, constituting a record annual pig iron output volume for the company. In addition, in the given year Chongqing Steel idled two blast furnaces at its old plant and commissioned its blast furnace No. 3 at its new location.
