Chinese special steel enterprises see reduced outputs in Jan-Oct

The China Special Steel Enterprises Association (SSEA) has issued its member companies’ steel output figures for the January-October period of this year. Accordingly, SSEA member companies’ overall crude steel output in the given period totaled 83,026,701 mt, decreasing by five percent or 4,597,666 mt year on year.

 

In particular, in the given period SSEA member enterprises’ non-alloy crude steel output totaled 33,854,719 mt, down five percent on year-on-year basis, accounting for 41 percent of the total crude steel production of SSEA member companies. SSEA companies’ low-alloy crude steel output totaled 25,511,038 mt in the given period, decreasing by four percent year on year and constituting 31 percent of the total. Medium- and high-alloy crude steel output of the enterprises in question in the given period amounted to 19,569,405 mt, down nine percent year on year, accounting for 24 percent of the total. The stainless crude steel output of the SSEA companies in the first 10 months of the current year totaled 4,091,539 mt, increasing by four percent year on year and accounting for five percent of the companies’ total crude steel output figure.

 

Meanwhile, in January-October SSEA member companies’ finished steel output totaled 82,894,176 mt, decreasing by 2,231,552 mt year on year. In particular, non-alloy finished steel output totaled 33,591,845 mt, down six percent year on year and accounting for 41 percent of the member enterprises’ total finished product output for the period. Low-alloy finished steel output totaled 26,983,933 mt, increasing by five percent year on year and accounting for 32 percent of the total. Medium- and high-alloy finished steel output totaled 18,361,836 mt, down eight percent year on year and accounting for 22 percent of the SSEA member enterprises’ total finished steel output. SSEA member companies’ stainless steel output in the given period totaled 4,001,563 mt, up eight percent year on year and constituting five percent of the total.

 

Of the companies’ finished steel output, 19,065,243 mt consisted of steel bars, accounting for 23 percent of the total, 14,562,202 mt consisted of wire rod, accounting for 18 percent of the total, steel plate output amounted to 5,097,659 mt, equal to six percent of the total, while steel sheets accounted for 5,306,313 mt, six percent of the total.
