China’s steel bar exports up 77.1 percent in August

In August this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 4.18 million mt, 370,000 mt, 160,000 mt, and 4.13 million mt, up 77.1 percent, rising by 17.7 percent, decreasing by 21.3 percent and up 8.3 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. In the January-August period of the current year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 27.07 million mt, 3.69 million mt, 1.51 million mt, and 31.52 million mt, increasing by 58.1 percent, 15.6 percent, 7.9 percent and 16.0 percent, respectively, year on year.
 
As previously announced by Chinese customs, in August this year China exported 9.73 million mt of finished steel, up 25.4 percent year on year, while the finished steel export volume in the January-August period of the current year totaled 71.87 million mt, up 26.5 percent year on year.
