China’s steel bar exports down 60.9 percent in January-July

In July this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 1.24 million mt, 290,000 mt, 190,000 mt and 4.28 million mt, respectively declining by 71.0 percent, 27.4 percent, 9.4 percent and 1.6 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-July period this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 10.97 million mt, 2.30 million mt, 1.24 million mt, and 27.13 million mt, decreasing by 60.9 percent, 26.0 percent, 7.7 percent and 2.8 percent, respectively, year on year.

In July this year, China exported 6.96 million mt of finished steel, up 2.2 percent month on month and decreasing by 32.3 percent year on year, while the finished steel export volume in the first seven months of the year totaled 47.95 million mt, down 28.7 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
