In the January-November period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 39.88 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 25.3 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 25.38 million dwt, increasing by 27.3 percent year on year. As of the end of November, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 81.67 million dwt, down 20.7 percent year on year and decreasing by 18.0 percent compared to the end of 2016.
In the January-November period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 37.09 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 26.5 percent year on year and accounting for 93.0 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 22.92 million dwt, increasing by 43.9 percent year on year and constituting 90.3 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of November, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 75.87 million dwt, down 20.6 percent year on year and constituting 92.9 percent of total ship orders
on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
