In September this year, China's finished steel exports amounted to 5.15 million mt, up 21.46 percent month on month and rising by 22.33 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. In January-September, China's finished steel exports amounted to 40.94 million mt, up 10.2 percent year on year.
In September of the current year, China's imports of finished steel amounted to 1.2 million mt, unchanged compared with the previous month and down 9.77 percent compared with the same month last year. In January-September, total finished steel imports amounted to 10.52 million mt, down 12 percent year on year.
In September, China's total iron ore imports reached 65.01 million mt, up 4.1 percent or 2.56 million mt month on month and increasing by 7.33 percent on year-on-year basis, while the country's total iron ore imports in the January-September period amounted to 550.76 million mt, up 8.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
