China’s crude steel output surges 10.7 percent in Jan-Sept

According to China's National Bureau of Statistics, in the first three quarters of the current year China produced a total of 525.74 million mt of crude steel, indicating an increase of 10.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given period China also produced 485.52 million mt and 667.29 million mt of pig iron and finished steel respectively, rising by 10.4 percent and 13.9 percent year on year.
 
As stated by Zhang Changfu, the secretary general of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), in the first three quarters of this year the average daily crude steel output in China was 1.926 million mt. He added that at this pace the total crude steel output in China in the current year is expected to reach 700 million mt.
