In the first quarter of 2010, China produced 158.01 million mt of crude steel, up by 31.112 million mt or 24.52 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the average daily output of crude steel for Q1 was 1.7557 million mt, which would equal an annual output of 641 million mt of crude steel. China's average daily output for crude steel in 2009 was 1.5557 million mt.
In the period in question, China produced 30.149 million mt of rebar, up 14.8 percent year on year, and 24.903 million mt of wire rod, up 22.4 percent year on year. On the other hand, China produced 4.690 million mt of cold rolled sheet, up 34.81 percent year on year, 7.142 million mt of cold rolled thin and wide steel strip, up 66.6 percent year on year, 6.341 million mt of galvanized sheet, up 58.9 percent year on year, 1.109 million mt of coated sheet, up 36.7 percent year on year, and 1.354 million mt of electrical steel, up 47.8 percent year on year.
