China’s coal output rises at steady pace in October, imports down

In October this year, China’s raw coal output amounted to 320 million mt, up 4.4 percent on year-on-year basis, the same growth rate as recorded in September, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). At the same time, China imported 25.685 million mt of coal in October this year, up 11.3 percent year on year, but down 15.2 percent from September due to the slowdown in issuance of customs clearance for imported coal at Chinese ports.

In the January-October period of the current year, China’s raw coal output amounted to 3.06 billion mt, increasing by 4.5 percent year on year, the same as the increase rate as recorded in the first nine months of the year. In the January-October period, China imported 280 million mt of coal, up 9.6 percent year on year.
