China extends zero tax rate on coal imports

The Tariff Commission of China’s State Council announced on March 24 that it has decided to extend the provisional tax rate of zero on coal imports from April 1 to December 31 of 2023, aiming to support the safe and steady supply of coal to the Chinese domestic market.

In 2022, China imported 293.2 million mt of coal, down 0.1 percent year on year.
