China bans exports of iron and steel to North Korea

China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has announced that as of January 6 China has banned exports of iron, steel, other metals, industrial machinery and transport vehicles to North Korea in order to implement Resolution 2397 of the United Nations Security Council.

The MOC also said in its statement that crude oil exports from China to North Korea should not exceed four million barrels or 525,000 metric tons in any given 12-month period.
