The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced that China has filed a Notice of Appeal regarding the WTO decision that the antidumping (AD) duties imposed by China in 2012 on stainless steel tube imports from the EU and Japan were illegal in the light of WTO rules.

In February this year, the WTO Dispute Settlement body concluded that the Chinese measures did not fully respect the prescribed WTO methods for calculating dumping margins and also came short of the WTO requirements in terms of due process and transparency.

The antidumping duties were imposed in May 2012 with dumping duty rates ranging from 9.7 percent to 39.2 percent.
