US-based coal exploration and development company Colombia Energy Resources, Inc. (CERX), operating in Colombia through a wholly owned subsidiary Colombia Clean Power S.A.S, has announced that it has started producing metallurgical coal from Ruku mine located in Boyaca, Colombia.

CERX CEO Ron Stovash stated that they halted production at Ruku when they acquired the mine, for safety and productivity improvements. These improvement works are continuing on schedule to increase the mine’s current production and improve the safety of overall mining operations.

The company aims to increase the current production rate of 16,000 mt per year by introducing new mining techniques.
