Cemtas awaits environmental approval for capacity increase

Bursa-based Turkish steelmaker Cemtas Celik Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S (Cemtas) has announced that it has made an application to Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to obtain permission for its investment project for the upgrade of its electric arc furnace with a new jet burner system and the modernization and expansion of its old substation. 
 
According to Cemtas, the environmental impact assessment process has started and the project will get underway after receiving permission. The value of the project is €1.39 million. With this project, Cemtas plans to increase the capacity of the furnace by around 15 percent.
