Capacity replacement details issued for Changzhou Eastern Special Steel

The Industry and Information Technology Commission of China's Jiangsu Province has issued the capacity replacement details relating to one 1,820 cubic meter iron-smelting blast furnace and two 100 mt steelmaking blast furnaces to be built by Jiangsu-based Changzhou Eastern Special Steel Co., a subsidiary of Jiangsu-based Eastern Group Company, and the planned elimination of three 550 cubic meter iron-smelting blast furnaces, four 40 mt steelmaking converters and two 50 mt steelmaking electric furnaces owned by Changzhou Eastern Special Steel.

Accordingly, the new 1,820 cubic meter iron-smelting blast furnace and two 100 mt steelmaking blast furnaces will together have an annual iron-smelting capacity of 1.55 million mt and a steelmaking capacity of 2.3 million mt, replacing the old blast furnaces, converters and electric furnaces of Changzhou Eastern Special Steel which have respective annual capacities of 1.95 million mt, 2.40 million mt and 0.72 million mt.
