Canadian-based steel fabricator reports increased revenue in Q3

Winnipeg, Manitoba-based steel fabricator Empire Industries Ltd. announced Monday that revenue in Q3 2010 increased by $1.1 million over the prior year to $19.9 million.

Empire Industries' gross profit of $2 million in Q3 2010 decreased from $3.9 million in Q3 2009, however the company experienced a net loss of $13.4 million for the nine-month period ended September 30, up from a net loss of $8.3 million for the same nine months in 2009.

Empire also announced that it has made the decision to close its steel fabrication facility located in Burnaby, British Columbia by the end of the year.
