Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has reported that in February this year industrial production in the largest Latin American country increased by 0.2 percent compared to January and was up 2.8 percent from February 2017.
In the January-February period of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 4.3 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in February this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil fell by 0.7 percent, output of capital goods rose by 0.1 percent, output of consumer goods increased by 1.2 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 1.7 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods down by 0.6 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In February this year, Brazil's metal products output increased by 4.2 percent and machine and equipment output rose by 1.8 percent, output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies moved up by 15.9 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-February period of 2018, Brazil's machine and equipment output rose by eight percent, metal products output moved up by 3.8 percent and output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies increased by 21.7 percent, all compared to the same period of 2017.
