Brazil's industrial output rises 2.5 percent in July

Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in July this year industrial production in the country grew 0.8 percent compared to June and was up 2.5 percent from July last year. 

In the first seven months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 0.8 percent on year-on-year basis.

According to the announcement, in the seventh month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 0.9 percent, output of capital goods rose by 1.9 percent, output of consumer goods grew by 0.6 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 2.7 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods rose by two percent, all compared to the previous month.

In July this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 1.8 percent and machine and equipment output rose by 8.4 percent, output of motor vehicles and trailers moved up by 6.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis.  In the January- July period of this year, Brazil's machine and equipment output rose by 3.1 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers increased by 11.6 percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
