The Brazilian Census Bureau (IBGE) announced Tuesday that industrial output in Brazil slipped 1.6 percent in June compared to May, following growth in the past three consecutive months. In May, industrial production had increased 2.7 percent from April. The decline in June also represents the second largest contraction in industrial output and manufacturing in Brazil since 2008.
Year-on-year in June, industrial production was up 0.9 percent, and in the January-to-June period, overall industrial output registered a 1.7 percent year-on-year increase.
