Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in September this year industrial production in the country increased 0.5 percent compared to August, but was down 4.8 percent from September last year. In August, industrial output in Brazil decreased by 3.8 percent month on month.
In the first nine months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 7.8 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in the ninth month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 1.2 percent and output of capital goods fell by 5.1 percent, output of consumer goods narrowed by 0.5 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 1.9 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods dropped by one percent, all compared to the previous month.
In the January-September period of this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 11.5 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 13.7 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers diminished by 17 percent, all compared to the same period of 2015.
