Brazilian slab producer Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP), a JV between Vale, Posco and Dongkuk, signed this week an operational deal with the port of Pecem for the unloading of raw materials and steel products at the facility, which includes coal, iron ore and slab, according to state-owned port administrator Ceara Portos.

Under the terms of the deal, Ceara Portos will be responsible for storing and transporting CSP’s steel products inside the port terminal for a period of 20 years, as long as the products relate to slab production.

As for solid bulk cargos, Ceara Portos will be responsible for storing and transporting CSP’s products from the steelmaker’s site to the port terminal. The deal, in this case, is valid for 10 years.

CSP has exported a total of 1.3 million mt of slab so far in 2017, with main export destinations including the US, Turkey, South Korea, Italy and Thailand.
