The city of Brumadinho in the state of Minas Gerais has set a limit on which mining and iron ore companies can operate, following an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.

According to media reports, mining companies can only operate with 60 percent of their taskforce.

Vale had to halt repair works in Brumadinho for a few days, following a city order. However, the Brazilian iron ore producer then appealed and won a court decision allowing it resume repair activities.
