The Brazilian ministry of industry, foreign trade and services announced it decided to extend an ongoing investigation over the imports of prestressed concrete steel strand (PC strand) from China for up to eight months.

According to a notice published at the Brazilian official gazette, Diario Oficial da Uniao (DOU), the eight-month timeline will be effective on May 17, 2017.

The investigation covers high-carbon, high-resistance PC strand from China, of both 3 or 7 wires, of low relaxation. The product subject to the probe currently falls under the 7312.10.90 HTS code.

The investigation started on July 2016, as previously reported by SteelOrbis, following a request from local producer Belgo Bekaert, a JV between ArcelorMittal and N.V. Bekaert, which filed a claim on April 28, 2016.

At the time, a similar probe into the Chinese imports of high-carbon steel wires was also initiated, following a similar request from Belgo.
