Australian miner BHP Billiton has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Toyota Australia, a subsidiary of Japanese car manufacturer Toyota, to enhance safety and decarbonization measures.

The companies will focus on safety in light vehicle design and future technologies and challenges, as well as support BHP’s objective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2030.

Once completed, the capabilities developed through the partnership are expected to provide a blueprint for other organizations seeking to safely electrify their light-vehicle fleets and contribute to decarbonization.
