Belarus issues steel production results for January

According to the data released by Belarus' National Statistical Committee, in January this year Belarus registered a 1.6 percent increase year on year in its crude steel production to 233,700 metric tons, and a 4.5 percent year-on-year increase in its rolled steel product (finished) output to 229,400 metric tons.
 
Meanwhile, Belarus' output of steel pipes in January of this year increased by 134.4 percent to 24,800 metric tons, its steel wire production went up by 58.7 percent to 7,400 metric tons and its steel cord output increased by two percent to 8,700 metric tons, all compared to January 2010.
 
As of February 1, 2011, steel producers in Belarus had accumulated 15,300 metric tons of steel pipes in their warehouses, a figure which equals 64.7 percent of their average monthly steel pipe production volume. The total value of metallurgical products accumulated in the warehouses of local producers as of February 1, 2011 amounted to Belarus Ruble 158.2 billion (approx. $52.4 million), which is equal to 27.9 percent of the country's average monthly metallurgical production volume.
