Belarus issues 2010 steel production results

According to the data released by Belarus' National Statistical Committee, in 2010 Belarus registered a 9.1 percent increase year on year in its crude steel production to 2.671 million metric tons, and a seven percent year-on-year increase in its rolled steel product (finished) output to 2.459 million metric tons.
 
Meanwhile, Belarus' output of steel pipes in 2010 increased by 71.4 percent year on year to 177,100 metric tons, including 100,800 metric tons of seamless steel pipes - up 112.6 percent year on year. In addition, in 2010 Belarus' steel wire production went up by 64.1 percent to 76,800 metric tons and its steel cord output increased by 34.7 percent to 92,900 metric tons, both compared to 2009.

Compared to November of the same year, Belarus' crude steel output in December 2010 decreased by 3.9 percent, its rolled steel product output went down by 10.3 percent, its steel pipe production dropped by 11.7 percent, its steel cord production went down by 8.4 percent, while its steel wire production increased by 0.8 percent.

As of January 1, 2011, steel producers in Belarus had accumulated 6,000 metric tons of steel pipes in their warehouses, a figure which equals 46.5 percent of their average monthly steel pipe production volume. The total value of steel products accumulated in the warehouses of local ferrous metals producers as of January 1, 2011 amounted to Belarus Ruble 73.6 billion (approx. $24.4 million), which is equal to 15.3 percent of the country's average monthly ferrous metals production volume.
