Belarus issues January-November steel production results

According to the data released by Belarus' National Statistical Committee, in the first 11 months of 2010 the country registered a 9.2 percent increase year on year in its crude steel production to 2.451 million metric tons, and saw a 6.5 percent increase in its rolled steel product (finished) output to 2.266 million metric tons.
 
Meanwhile, in January-November this year, Belarus' output of steel pipes increased by 66 percent year on year to 161,500 metric tons, including 92,900 metric tons of seamless steel pipes - up 110.3 percent year on year. In addition, the country's steel wire production went up by 58.1 percent to 69,300 metric tons and its steel cord output increased by 33.3 percent to 85,500 metric tons, both compared to the same period last year.

Compared to October this year, the country's crude steel output in November increased by 2.5 percent, its rolled steel product output went up by seven percent, its steel pipe production rose by 9.8 percent, its steel wire production increased by 2.1 percent, while its steel cord production went down by 6.2 percent.

As of December 1 this year, Belarus' steelmakers had accumulated 5,400 metric tons of steel pipes in their warehouses, a figure which equals 42 percent of their average monthly pipe production volume. The total value of steel products accumulated in the warehouses of local ferrous metals producers as of December 1 this year amounted to Belarus Ruble 91.4 billion (approx. $30.4 million), which is equal to 19 percent of the country's average monthly ferrous metals production volume.
