Australian iron ore development company BC Iron Limited has announced that it has exported more than 5 million mt of iron ore to date from its Nullagine joint venture with Australia-based miner Fortescue Metals.

The company dispatched its latest shipment totaling 203,138 mt of iron ore from Herb Elliott Port in Port Hedland on September 28, 2012. The joint venture has now produced and exported 5,041,302 mt of iron ore since exports first commenced in February 2011.

BC Iron stated that the relationship with Fortescue provides the company with access to world-class infrastructure and therefore a competitive advantage at a time of softening metal prices.
