Bayi Steel’s quake-resistant rebar output exceeds 500,000 mt year-to-date

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region-based Chinese steelmaker Bayi Iron and Steel Co. (Bayi Steel), a subsidiary of major Chinese steel group Baosteel, has announced that in the current year up to May 10 it produced over 500,000 mt of earthquake-resistant rebar. As of mid-April, Bayi Steel's rebar production operations have been focused exclusively on producing earthquake-resistant rebar.

In 2012, Bayi Steel's output of earthquake-resistant rebar is expected to account for 95 percent of its total rebar output for the year.
