Baotou Steel achieves 19.67% rise in steel output

According to data issued by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in the first nine months of 2007 the crude steel output of local steelmaker Baotou Steel totaled 6.5304 million mt, up 19.67 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the producer's iron output for the same period came to 6.6605 million mt, up 24.03 percent year on year, while its semi-finished and finished products output amounted to 6.1877 million mt, up 19.97 percent year on year.

In the January-September 2007 period, the volume of steel and iron exported by Baotou Steel totaled 875,900 mt, increasing by 253,300 mt year on year, while its export revenues had a total value of $45.1 million, rising by $17.4 million year on year.

With regard to the company's main technical indices for the period in question, Baotou Steel achieved furnace availability of 2.032 mt/m3, up 0.041 mt/m3 year on year; the blast furnace coke ratio reached 412.03 kg/mt, down 32.99 kg/mt year on year; and, finally, the pulverized coal injection ratio reached 135.32 kg/mt, up 13.78 kg/mt year on year.
