Baosteel and Nippon Steel Corp. (NSC) have announced a framework agreement to build a third HDG production line at their joint venture Baosteel-NSC/Arcelor Automotive Steel Sheet Co., in order to increase the production capacity of advanced automotive steel sheet. With this new line, the galvanized automobile sheet capacity of the joint venture will be nearly doubled to 900,000 mt.

Furthermore, the two companies have also agreed to use Nippon Steel Corp. technology to  recycle the dust created during the production process, as a part of their environmental efforts.

Earlier, during the construction of Phases 1 and 2 of the joint venture, advanced equipment from Nippon Steel Corp. was installed, with more than a thousand technicians from Baosteel being trained at Nippon Steel Corp.'s facilities regarding the use of the equipment in question.
