After almost a full year of intense effort, Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has won its antidumping case on hot rolled plate against Indonesia, which has announced that hot rolled plates exported from China did not cause damage to local industry.

In November 2008, the Indonesian government decided to initiate an antidumping investigation on hot rolled plates from mainland China, Taiwan and Malaysia, affecting products under custom codes 72084000.00, 72085100.00, 72085200.00, 72085300.00, and 72085400.00.

Since the start of the investigation, Baosteel has been active in its response, providing all necessary facts and figures. Ihe Indonesian government has now confirmed that imports of Chinese hot rolled plate did not cause any harm to the relevant Indonesian industries. As a result, high antidumping duties have been avoided by all the interested Chinese enterprises.
