On August 25, Chinese steelmaker Baosteel announced its ex-factory prices for certain products for the month of October. The details are as follows:
1. Hot rolled
September prices are still in effect. Thus, the price of SPHC 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is still RMB 5,742/mt ($841/mt).
2. Wide and heavy plate
Prices are up by RMB 400/mt ($59). Following the adjustment, the new price of 30 mm x 2,000 mm x 12,000 mm is at RMB 7,000/mt ($1,025/mt).
3. Cold Rolled
The prices of SPCC, BLC and DC01 have declined by RMB 300/mt ($44/mt). As a result, the price of SPCC/BLC 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 6,196/mt ($907/mt), while that of DC01 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 6,296/mt ($922/mt); finally, the price of DC04 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 6,996/mt ($1,024/mt).
4. Deep drawing steel
Prices are down by RMB 200/mt ($30/mt).
5. Fingerprint resistant steel
Prices have declined RMB 300/mt ($44/mt).
6. Galvanized steel
Prices have seen a decrease of RMB 200/mt ($30/mt).
7. Silicon steel
Prices have remained constant for October.
8. Hot rolled and pickled
Prices are down by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt). After the adjustment, the price of SPHC 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 5,847/mt ($856/mt).
All the above prices exclude taxes (17 percent VAT) and are effective as of August 25, 2008.
