German plant maker SMS Group has announced that Bahrain-based medium and heavy beams and structural steel sections producer SULB Company BSC has placed an order for renewal of a 130 mt electric arc furnace (EAF) and modernization of four-strand continuous caster for the production of billets and beam blanks. Within the scope of this project, the company aims to increase safety, efficiency and productivity. The project is planned to start production next year.

The four-strand continuous caster is fitted for the production of six section sizes. SULB aims to increase casting speeds and productivity with additional cooling and strand support in the upper segments.

SULB operates two plants, one in the Kingdom of Bahrain in Hidd and one in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jubail. The plant in Jubail is a light-to-medium steel section mill.
