The Italian steel producer Acciaieria Arvedi has awarded Italian company Danieli with a supply agreement for the delivery and installation of a new cold rolling mill complex.

The equipment to be supplied to Acciaieria Arvedi includes a push-pull pickling line (PPPL) for heavy gauges, a continuous pickling line (CPL) (0.6-4 mm; with 4 x 28 m pickling tanks), coupled with a 3-stand 6-high tandem mill, and two hot dip galvanizing lines (HDGL) No. 2 and No. 3.

The PPPL line will have an annual production capacity of 650,000 metric tons and is expected to be put into operation in September 2008, while trial production at a 1.7 million metric ton per annum CPL will be commenced in December 2008 and joined with a tandem mill in October 2009. The No. 2 and No. 3 HDGLs, with a capacity of 350,000 metric tons per year each, are expected to start production in July and December 2009 respectively.

The new complex will allow Acciaieria Arvedi to increase the quality of its galvanized coils and help achieve the company's ambitious targets of high productivity with ultra-thin gauges.
