According to the data released by
Argentina's Iron and Steel Producers' Center (CIS), in August this year
Argentina's crude steel output amounted to 489,400 metric tons, falling slightly by 0.3 percent as compared to the previous month and up 3.4 percent year on year.
In August,
Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output surged by 1.8 percent month on month to 499,600 metric tons, while a 1.6 percent decrease was recorded on year-on-year basis, including output of 249,700 metric tons of hot rolled flat steel products - down 2.6 percent month on month and 249,900 metric tons of long steel products, increasing by 6.75 percent compared to July this year.
In the given month, the country's cold rolled flat steel product output fell by 15.5 percent month on month to 116,500 metric tons, increasing slightly by 0.2 percent as compared to August 2010.
On the other hand, in the first eight months of this year,

production totaled 3.69 million metric tons, increasing by 9.9 percent year on year. However, as compared to the January-August period of 2008, the country's steel
production in the corresponding period this year indicates a decrease of 5.7 percent
