ArcelorMittal Temirtau starts construction of new air separation plant

ArcelorMittal Temirtau, the Kazakhstan-based subsidiary of steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has started construction works for the installation of a new air separation plant.

Accordingly, the new air separation plant will have the capacity to produce 62,000 cubic meters of oxygen per hour, 44,000 cubic meters of nitrogen per hour, and 750 cubic meters of argon per hour. The investments in the new plant will amount to Tenge 17.670 billion (about $119.8 million), with its commissioning planned in the beginning of June 2012.

The supply and installation of the plant will be carried out by Germany's Linde Group, a world leading gases and engineering company.

"This contract... along with recently signed contracts for a new blast furnace lining and for the supply of equipment for the construction of a new continuous square billet caster, is an important element in the growth of our production capacity in Temirtau," ArcelorMittal Temirtau chief executive Frank Pannier said.
