Abaiskaya coal mine, which is located in Kazakhstan's central Karaganda region and belongs to ArcelorMittal Temirtau, the Kazakhstan-based subsidiary of the world's largest steel producer ArcelorMittal, was hit by an explosion on January 11.
The mine officials stated that the blast in the mine resulted in the death of seven miners and also caused an underground fire which has impeded the rescue operations.
