ArcelorMittal Asturias to reduce gas emissions at Gijón plant

Spanish steel producer ArcelorMittal Asturias, subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has invested more than €5 million in a new system of electrofilters at its Gijón plant in Spain to minimize gas emissions. 

The company stated that the new electrofilters which will be installed at the end of the current year will reduce emission levels to approximately 20 mg/Nm3 in accordance with the latest EU regulations.

With the new investment, ArcelorMittal Asturias will carry out its activities under the most demanding environmental protection standards, also giving a long-term response to the environmental requirements of European legislation.
