Anshan Steel to keep finished steel export volume unchanged in 2011

Officials at Liaoning Province-based Chinese steel producer Anshan Iron and Steel (Anshan Steel) have stated that in 2011 they expect the company's finished steel exports to account for 10 percent of its total sales of finished steel, with the finished steel export volume expected to remain roughly equivalent to last year's figure.

In 2010, Anshan Steel's finished steel export volume reached 1.81 million mt, with a total value of RMB 1.24 billion ($189 million).

The Anshan Steel officials stated that, due to the government's adjustment of its tax policy to the detriment of steel exports as well as the shortening of the gap in profit margins between domestic sales and the export business, the company plans to keep its export volume of finished steel products equal with last year's levels.

Anshan Steel has already set up many wholly-owned subsidiaries in more than 30 countries worldwide, becoming one of the leading steel export companies in China.
