UK-based miner Anglo American has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sweden-based H2 Green Steel to work together on the advancement of low carbon steelmaking processes.
According to the agreement, Anglo American will supply premium quality iron ore products from its Kumba mines in South Africa and Minas-Rio in Brazil to H2 Green Steel to be used in the latter’s direct reduced iron production at its Boden plant in Sweden.
Anglo American aims to reach carbon neutrality in its operations and reduce its Scope 3 emissions by 50 percent by 2040.
