Amurmetall probes new slab concaster

The Russian steel producer Amurmetall has announced the beginning of hot trials of its new slab concaster stationed at the mill's electro-melting workshop. 

The new concaster will be able to producer 1,000 mm -1,900 mm wide, 150 mm, 200 mm and 250 mm thick and 1,200 mm - 9,000 mm long slabs.

The main supplier of equipment for Amurmetall's new slab concaster was SMS Demag. The investment in the project amounted to $156.7 million.

With commencement of new slab concaster, Amurmetall will be able to increase its slab annual production capacity to one million mt and, thereby, rise flats output.
