Metal-formed products producer American Axle & Manufacturing announced Thursday the opening of a second location of AccuGear, Inc., in Silao, Guanajuato. The new AccuGear location in Silao joins the Guanajuato Manufacturing Complex (GMC) as AAM's second manufacturing facility in Mexico. Under the leadership of Plant Manager Kevin Edmonds, the plant will manufacture precision differential gears and assemblies to support a variety of AAM customers and programs.

"AccuGear is pleased to offer leading precision net shape gear forming, machining and heat treat capabilities to our Chrysler, Nissan, General Motors, and Volkswagen customers from our new Silao operation," said Vice President of AAM's Metal Formed Products Business Unit Norman Willemse. By July 31, 2012, the AccuGear facility in Silao plans to expand by more than 19,000 square feet, resulting in a total workspace of 122,900 square feet.
