Alchevsk deal helps Duferco expand business

Swiss based international steel trading house Duferco is carrying out a deal with Ukrainian steel mill Alchevsk, to install a new continuous slab casting facility at Alchevsk plant. The new facility will have a capacity of casting 2.5 million mt slabs per year, and expected to be commissioned by the end of 2005, according to market sources. It is reported that; Duferco will have the right to sell half of the slabs produced by Alchevsk after completion of the upgrading of the mill. The balance will be used by Alchevsk to roll into plates, half of which will also be sold by Duferco in international markets.
