Al-Tamimi to handle civil works at Hadeed billet plant construction in Jubail

Wednesday, 05 May 2010 11:16:56 (GMT+3)   |
Saudi Arabia-based Al-Tamimi Group has been awarded a contract to carry out civil works at Saudi Iron and Steel Company's (Hadeed) steel billet plant, being constructed by Italian plantmaker Danieli in Jubail with an investment of $630 million.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Company (SAFCO) and Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed), the joint venture partners in the project, had selected Danieli as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the plant in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The value of the contract awarded to Al-Tamimi has not been disclosed, while the work is expected to take four to six months to complete. Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2012, the Jubail Steel Billets Factory will have an annual capacity of one million metric tons and will account for an annual increase of 28 percent in the Saudi Arabia's steel production.
