AK Steel disclosed that it would begin negotiations to replace the current labor agreement with the United Autoworkers (UAW) Local 3303 that represents about 1,400 workers at the company's Butler Works. The current labor agreement expires September 30, 2006. Butler Works produces electrical and stainless sheet steel products. The parties indicated that they would commence discussions on June 20 and expect the talks to be affirmative. AK Steel and UAW have also agreed to impose a blackout on information for the duration of the early discussions in an effort to facilitate the early talks.
